Description of Learning Environment for Students

Executive Weekend MBA
The Weekend MBA Program is a 22-month program that includes support services, first-rate meals, and state-of-the-art learning technologies in classrooms at the University at Albany campus and our Executive Education Center. The program uses a cohort study model that offers a more collaborative learning approach, matching you with a group of skilled and motivated professionals from diverse industries and positions. Students also complete international training, including an executive trip abroad to learn first-hand from foreign business leaders.

Classes are held every other weekend on Fridays, from 2:00-8:30 p.m., and Saturdays, from 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., enabling students to apply the cutting edge concepts they’ve learned over the weekend to their jobs on Monday. The Weekend MBA Program is consistently top-ranked by our satisfied graduates, who report that it translates directly into improved job performance and rapid career enhancement. A recent study by the Executive MBA Council found that students who participated in an EMBA program increased their earnings by an average of 29% between starting and graduating the program.

To learn more, contact us to attend an information session or sit in on a class.

Evening MBA
The Evening MBA Program offers high quality instruction by our dedicated faculty. You set the pace at which you move through the comprehensive curriculum. You decide when to start - Spring, Summer, or Fall - we are ready when you are!

Classes begin at 5:45 p.m., offer a break at 7:00 p.m., and end at 8:35 p.m. Students attend class one evening per week for each class that they take. Most find that two classes a semester is a reasonable workload to balance with work and outside commitments. We also offer opportunities for students to network with each other and with our professional and alumni network, a critical benefit of the MBA experience.

Full-Time MBA
The Full-Time MBA Program gives students the opportunity to work with smaller class sizes, fostering close working relationships with faculty and a small cohort of students. You will work closely with our committed faculty, who are involved in ground breaking research and in the trade societies in their fields. Students also gain a well-rounded foundation in the essential competencies of business administration: finance, accounting, marketing, operations, human resource management, information technology, and business ethics.

You will receive guidance and individualized attention from the Program Director, your professors, and our Career Services staff to ensure your success within the program. Our vital global network helps students connect with alumni and business partners for internships, special projects, and job placement, allowing for a gradual transition from student to business professional.

Military

The University at Albany is committed to maintaining a Veteran Helpful Campus, where students with military experience can enhance their education and career. That commitment is exemplified by providing necessary assistance to all UAlbany student veterans and functioning according to the following guidelines:

- Embrace the history of the GI Bill
- Employ a knowledgeable and committed Veteran Certifying Official (VCO)
- Implement veteran-requested, SUNY-mandated, tuition deferral
- Set aside a dedicated room for veterans
- Encourage and fund veterans' clubs, newspaper, etc.
- Identify faculty and staff who have served in the military
- Sponsor seminars and fund raising events with UAlbany Student Veterans

Our Veterans Resources page includes many links to useful information regarding the University at Albany, New York State, the GI Bill, and careers.

Our dedication to improving the lives of our military service men and women also extends to offering support to their spouses and dependents. Both military spouses and their dependents deserve a high-quality education that will benefit their career and improve their family’s well-being. More importantly, they need a career path that's portable, so relocation never gets in the way of reaching their goals. As a military member, your spouse and dependents may be eligible to receive tuition assistance and benefits.

Located in proximity to a number of military bases, the campus also hosts many current and former service members. Organizations such as the Veteran Student Group and Veteran Education Team create a sense of community and help advance veteran initiatives. Formal and informal events are held each year, providing support and recognition for student and faculty veterans.

The university has a knowledgeable staff that is dedicated to assisting veterans with financial support and services. In addition to accepting the Post 9/11 GI Bill, the University at Albany accepts other state and federal veteran and military benefits. Within the School of Business, applicants are also eligible to receive credit for their years of military experience.
